ISIB Brand Tour - SHANGXIA, HERMES and PRADA

In this beautiful autumn, students from ISIB embraced other brands. On September 26th, 2018, led by Janlie, teacher of Design and Branding History for the freshmen, they came to Huangpu District to visit the SHANGXIA store, the HERMES Spirit and Cultural Exhibition and the PRADA Mansion. They hereby jointly experienced the cultural spirit of luxury brands from three different countries and opened up a journey of exploration of the historical development and profound connotations of excellent brands

As the first stop of our visit, SHANGXIA left the students with the deepest impression. From the moment they first entered the door, the students, following the footsteps of teacher Janlie and the staff, couldn't wait to start learning about its products, development culture and decorative ideas. From the exquisite bamboo threaded porcelain to the soft cashmere and to the delicately crafted thin porcelain, every piece of exquisite craftsmanship, coupled with the elegant atmosphere, the students tasted the essence of the traditional but unique oriental culture in this brand through their questions and observations.

Next the students visited the home of Hermès not far away. The first exhibition of the "Hermes Spirit" Cultural Exhibition is held in Shanghai "Hermes Home" from October 20th to November 18th, 2017. Through several generations of designers and craftsmen, the heritage of iconic theme, color and concept led them to explore the long development history of Hermes from the saddle and harness workshop of Thierry Herme ̀ s in 1837 till now.

Starting from a classic Hermès "Bus and Lady" silk scarf, we walked into the Hermes Spirit and Culture Exhibition. Through modern technology, we experienced differently the dedication and elegence of Hermes from the private collection of Mile Hermes and many Hermes brand collections.

For the last stop, we came to the Prada House, one of the few top luxury homes in Shanghai. After six years of renovations, it finally became the place to hold Prada's special events and officially opens to the public in China in 2017. Students came to find that this time happens to be the flashing activity of Prada's new sports style. The eye-catching fluorescent style fully showcased the avant-garde and innovation of Prada, which is different from the style of the previous two brands, therefore enabling us to learn more in various brand cultures.

Although one day is not long for a brand visit, it is a special introduction to brand learning for the freshmen and also an opportunity for students to learn to practice and observe. No doubt every student wound have a different understanding and view of the brand history and put more energy into the next study life after this day.
